Colby College has a January Term where students only take one class and attend that class every day. I’ve taught Jan plan for over five years. The course has changed a bit, but the past three years it has focused on narrative film production.
In this course you will learn how to write, shoot, and edit a narrative film. The class is composed of several short assignments and screenings that will develop your skills in script writing, cinematography, directing, and editing. By the end of the course each student will have a five-minute film that you can post online or submit to film festivals. This course also encourages students to think creatively and to consider filmmaking as a life-long artistic medium that is accessible to them. We will shoot using Canon 60D cameras (DSLRs) and edit with Adobe Premiere CC.
